Is Death the end?

What exactly happens after death? Many atheists have said that death is the end of experience (including Sam Harris) and as such dead people cannot experience it. So basically nothing happens after death.

Of course this claim has no scientific backing but it's still preached like it's the truth because it aligns with their world view.
People will come up all sorts just to avoid saying I don't know.

this situation is one of those in which the line between free speech and speech that incites violence, hate, and maltreatment of certain groups is blurred what do you think?
